my bio

Hi. I’m happy you want to know more about me. So what’s behind me? You can browse through my life story right below or jump to my more-less usual resume. I’ve put the story together so you can get to know me better, but if you prefer resumes, it’s up to you ;)

 MY LIFE STORY

I’m a Slovak. I was born & raised in Slovakia and spent all my childhood in Hniezdne, a small village on north-east of Slovakia with lovely nature around. My family has been and always will be my safe-harbor and I am very thankful to them.

THE EARLY YEARS

In 1992 – 2001 I went to elementary school in Hniezdne. 9 years. I had very good grades, not so much because of the hard studies, rather it just was natural for me to remember things. My parents considered the option to send me for 8-years grammar school when I was in 4th elementary grade, but as I wasn’t much of a hard-worker, they didn’t do it. I think it was for the best, because from the 5th grade the school actually started being a lot more fun. :)

A YOUNG STUDENT

Between 2001 and 2005 I studied the grammar school in Stara Lubovna. It was great four years. It was the time of my first platonic love, learning to be more independent, trying things that I shouldn’t. I spent a lot of free time then playing football, PC games, going out in the evenings.

DISCOVERING THE WORLD

In 2005 I started the studies at Faculty of Economics, Matej Bel University in Banska Bystrica. I came to this school to become a wall-street broker and earn sh*t-load of money :) How ironic, that here I got in touch with AIESEC and I started discovering the world from other side.

During 3 years that I spent studying in the city of Banska Bystrica I actively engaged in AIESEC and the last year (July 2007 – June 2008) I was leading the Banska Bystrica branch. In that year I also traveled to 2 international conferences abroad – to Lithuania and Russia.

I met with Bubu here. We were working in AIESEC together. We got together in June 2006 in the Banska Bystrica park and we spent amazing 6 years together. Though right now we are not together anymore, she still is my best friend and without our life together I would not be the person I am now.

YEAR ONE OF LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

In the 3rd year of studies I got selected to become part of national management board of AIESEC Slovakia, acting as a communication manager. That meant moving to Bratislava to an “AIESEC flat” and living & working with 6 other people full time.

During period between June 2008 and July 2009 I had the pleasure to work with 6 extraordinary people driving the organization of 300+ young semi-professional volunteers, learning about leadership and personal development, management, internal and external communication.

Close to the end of that year I was ready to leave and move towards the corporate world. I had an intense experience behind me and was tired and in some ways also fed-up with doing what matters. It’s hard when you give your best and in some ways it still is not enough.

YEAR TWO IN LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Despite all that, I decided to run as a candidate for the country manager position. I felt the commitment to the organization, to the goals and its purpose. And I was given the trust of people. So the 2nd year in national AIESEC leadership started for me. And that was the best year ever! I became the Country Manager of AIESEC Slovakia.

It was the year when I selected my team of 7 awesome people and we made the promise to “Take it Higher”. It was the motto of our team and we delivered. We achieved extraordinary growth in organizational results, overachieved the set goals and we transformed the way the national board supported the association.

The best leadership and management training I could ever get – one year of leading, failing and achieving with team of seven, driving my and our ideas how to transform the organization to better shape. Being the one everyone looks to and doing my best to fulfill the promises made.

I also had the chance to take part in setting of the global direction for over 100 countries, actively engaged in the financial support team for AIESEC international and made a lot of contacts around the globe.

6 MONTHS WITH ACCENTURE

In November 2010 I joined the Accenture in Slovakia and become the member of Project & Program Management team in Slovakia. It was a valuable experience of working in a big multinational company, handling the internal clients and doing a bit of different job than before.

It was a great 6 months with great group of people. I didn’t expect to find such a good working atmosphere and team-culture in such a big and processed company.

I believe I’ve brought value to the team and the most rewarding for me was, that on the day when I left for my next steps I was given a letter of recommendation without asking for it. It made me feel very good.

Thanks to all of you, PCS gang!

A YEAR IN EGYPT

I left Accenture to take one year job in Alcatel-Lucent Middle-East & Africa HR as HR Communication Specialist. In Cairo, Egypt.

So far this experience has proven to be of extreme value to me. Besides learning and executing in dynamic team, discovering the way of HR in huge multinational regional head-quarters, dealing with employee communication, engagement, it’s also a learning from cultural and personal point.

I had the chance to deliver in the regional scope for huge multinational. I have done a lot, though there’s lot more I could have. I learned that I need a close team and engaging purpose to really be “in my zone”. I also discovered, that if you hear the calling you can make the difference in the system as well.

Being thrown into new world totally different from what I was used to, having to deal with my work-time almost fully on my own, being able to drive change and supporting the big initiatives for over 3000 employees is something invaluable.
